Dentist Laser Decreases Vibrations the the TMJ

Patients nowadays have many options for treatment in the dental office - new dentist laser technologies are now available to aid in the treatment of TMJ inflammation and TMJ dysfunction.

A new dental laser technology that BioRESEARCH Associates (Milwaukee, WI) is offering dentists is known as the MLS Laser Therapy (ASA, Italy).

The MLS laser is a diode laser, that works on the triad of pain, inflammation, and edema by helping with ATP production in the mitochondrial "power-house" of the cells.

MLS is a great therapy option for those looking for alternative, non-invasive treatment methods in the dental office. Many dentists trained in treating TMJ dysfunctions are used to traditional therapies including:
  • TENS therapy - Ultra low frequency "Transcutaneous Electro Nerual Stimulation"
  • Injection Therapy - Everything from Prolo-therapy and saline injections, etc
  • Wilckodontics® - a method of Accelerated Osteogenic OrthodonticsTM or AOO
  • Iontophoresis - medication delivery system via passing electrical current through the skin
  • Ultra-Sound and Vibration Therapy
Recently, representatives from BioRESEARCH were able to demonstrate the efficacy of the MLS dentist laser by measuring TMJ vibrations, both before and after dental laser therapy.

Here is a video showing a before and after Joint Vibration Analysis on a patient with early TMJ symptoms of vibration and/or early disc movement:
